When Tessa and Ryan decided to work with us as their architects, they were newly married and wanting to start a family. At the time, they lived in downtown Charlotte, but had just bought a large lot with a small pond outside of town. Tessa and Ryan love modern architecture and minimalism in general. They are strongly drawn to black, white and grey – even their cat, Rex, fits these specifications!

The design process yielded a four-bedroom house with a large living/dining space, deck overlooking the pond, upper-level screened porch and the largest kitchen island imaginable that was positioned such that Tessa could see the kids playing in the front or backyard and watch a football game in the adjacent living room.

Ryan and Tessa are entertainers who often host gatherings for family and friends. Having a house whose main spaces opened to the front and back yards via large sliding doors, made for a spectacular flow for guests.
