Little River

Way outside of the growing and bustling city of Raleigh, Christine and Ryan found a large tract of land perfect for an organic farm Ryan wanted to build and a home for themselves and two girls. The land included a large open field and woods, primarily filled with pine and black jack oak trees that they wanted to maintain as much as possible.

The house sits back far from the road, accessed by a long driveway that wraps around the farmland. Christine and Ryan love open, modern spaces and also the look of a farmhouse, so the design aimed to satisfy both. Material, finish, fixture and furniture selections were key to achieving this, so we worked with Second Mile Designs on interiors and Tactile for a custom farmhouse table.

Kemp Harris and his team built the house and it has since been featured in numerous publications as a “farmhouse modern”.
